Delhi
Delhi is the capital of India and includes various cultures, traditions, and historical establishments that make it an ideal starting point for the famous Golden Triangle Tour. Being an urban center that is known for traffic, noise, and a degree of chaos, Delhi offers much more than this initial impression.
Start with Old Delhi, the section of the city where narrow lanes and crowded bazaars create a sensory overload of sights, smells, and sounds. Get immersed in the lively atmosphere of this historic area, which is filled with old traditions and modern customs. Jama Masjid, the beautiful mosque built high above the city, is a must-see. One can climb the height of its minarets for a view all around where the activity and the commotion of the streets could be seen from above.
And once the heart of the city is reached, famous attractions are found. India Gate, an imposing war memorial—perhaps the most distinguishing structure of Delhi—is situated in honor of the Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the course of making the country independent. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Humayun’s tomb, which is one of the garden tombs, and the red fort, a historical fort with red sandstone walls in the heart of Delhi.
In order to understand the modern aspects of Delhi, New Delhi is the place to explore. Here, modern and traditional museums and art galleries in which modern creative works and age-old crafts exemplifying culture are on display. Also, immerse yourself in the delectable food culture of Delhi, which has restaurants and other places providing cuisines spanning from Indian to that of the rest of the world.
Delhi is a city where, in every turn, one is able to witness the history, culture, and changing dynamics of India.
